Help with Sideshore

Questions, bug reports and spot requests go straight to the developer.

juancarlos_tec@proton.me

Please include your device, its system version and Sideshore's version (More ▸ About), and the spot if it's about a forecast.

Why is a spot NO when the wind looks good?

The rules run in order and the first hard fail wins. Offshore wind, a storm in the window (lightning chance of 10% or more, or CAPE of 800 J/kg or more) or wind above your maximum is NO. The rules that decided it are printed next to every verdict.

What is the Gorge demo?

Until you save a spot of your own, Sideshore opens on a bundled day in the Columbia River Gorge, under a banner. “Exit demo” takes you to your own spots; “Explore the Gorge demo” in More opens it again.

My alert didn't arrive on time.

Alerts are local notifications from the last forecast. The evening-before alert is scheduled on your device; the two-hours-ahead check runs when the system allows background refresh, so it is best-effort. Make sure notifications and Background App Refresh are on for Sideshore.

Where does the data come from?

Forecasts from Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0), with public sources such as NOAA's National Weather Service, NDBC buoys, USGS river gauges and Environment and Climate Change Canada. Every value's source is one tap away in the app.

Is my data shared?

No. There is no account and no server; your spots, alerts and notes stay on your device. See the privacy policy.
